Related Products

The Related Products tab is where you can assign specific products to be displayed in the product details page, under the Related Items block labeled “they may also like“. If you don’t assign anything, your site will choose products to relate (see the Rules of Automatic Assignment).

Set specifically related products for any item using the Related Products tab in the product Editor Window. You can search and sort by SKU, Name, and Category. Check the box next to each item to make it a “related product” for the item you’re editing. It will show up on this product’s Details Page.

“Show Only” checkbox: This means “Show Only Saved Related Products.” Check the box to show just the saved related products. If none are saved, no products will appear. If you choose new related products, you have to save the product to get them to show up in the Show Only Saved list. 

Related Items are Automatically Displayed

If no Related Products are assigned, the cart system will still display Related Items. Below is the hierarchy that the system uses to display items. Rules toward the top take priority. The system will step down through each rule, adding products until 4 products are found.

1. Manually Assigned. Displays up to 4 items that have been manually assigned to that product. If more than 4 items have been selected, the first 4 items will be displayed). If less than 4 products found, add additional products through step 2…

2. Within the Same Category.  If still less than 4 products found, add additional products through step 3…

3. Assigned to Same Manufacturer.  If still less than 4 products found, add additional products through step 4…

4. Random from Published Products. If you have inventory being checked and also have the cart set to not display products out of stock, it will only display items that have stock.
